Taylor University launching physician assistant master’s program

Taylor University is preparing to welcome its first cohort of physician assistant masters program students this August.
This is the ninth accredited physician assistant program available in Indiana. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment is projected to grow 28% from 2023 to 2033.
“We’ve been blessed with state-of-the-art facilities, a strong core faculty, and an outstanding staff who feel called to be part of this program,” Lori Fauquher, Associate Professor of PA studies, said in a news release. “It is an honor to teach medicine from a Christ-centered perspective, and I am proud of the caliber of experience our program will offer.”
Fauquher is overseeing the program and says it will place a strong emphasis on what is known as “lifestyle medicine”—using therapeutic lifestyle interventions as a principal means of treating chronic conditions such as cardiovascular diseases, Type 2 diabetes and obesity.
The university said more than 20 Indiana health care entities are supporting Taylor’s expansion in health care training.
The program will be housed in the newly renovated Randall Science Center and students will have a dedicated simulation lab in a medical facility adjacent to campus. The lab will include four clinic rooms, an operating room/critical care unit simulation room, and an inpatient simulation room.
Taylor’s School of Nursing received accreditation in October and is partnering with Fort Wayne-based Parkview Health for clinical training.
