NFI Industries announces series of layoffs in Crown Point

A New Jersey-based warehousing and logistics operator plans to lay off dozens of workers in northwest Indiana.
NFI Industries filed a notice with the state on Friday saying it plans to lay off 78 employees at its Crown Point warehouse.
The company’s WARN notice says 60 workers will be let go on July 11, and another 18 will be laid off July 25.
A representative for NFI did not respond to multiple messages from Inside INdiana Business, so it’s not clear what led to the layoffs. It’s also unclear how many workers will remain at the Crown Point facility once the layoffs take effect.
Per the WARN notice, the NFI workers are non-union and don’t have bumping rights.
The announcement of layoffs at NFI comes on the heels of more significant layoffs at RV manufacturers in northern Indiana. Three subsidiaries Thor Industries Inc. are laying off around 450 workers in Elkhart and LaGrange counties.
