Indianapolis-based Salesforce Marketing Cloud Chief Executive Officer Scott McCorkle has been named the 2016 TechPoint Mira Awards Trailblazer in Technology. The Rush County native will be honored Saturday at the 17th annual awards gala.

TechPoint President Mike Langellier says "Scott has played vital roles in some of Indiana’s all-time biggest tech success stories – first with Software Artistry 20 years ago, then with ExactTarget, and now as CEO of Salesforce Marketing Cloud. He is an extraordinary technology and business leader who has had and continues to have immense impact on our tech community and the marketing tech community worldwide."

McCorkle hold a bachelor’s degree in computer science from Ball State University and an MBA from Indiana University. Earlier this month, he was announced as keynote speaker of Ball State’s May commencement ceremonies. His previous positions include president of technology and strategy for ExactTarget, which California-based Salesforce.com Inc. (NYSE: CRM) acquired for $2.5 billion in 2013. McCorkle is a co-founder of Mezzia Inc. a vice president of the CRM Product Group at IBM, a vice president at Software Artistry and a senior analyst for Eli Lilly and Co. (NYSE: LLY).

Scott Dorsey, a co-founder and former CEO of ExactTarget, was McCorkle’s boss prior to the Salesforce sale. He calls McCorkle "an incredible visionary and technologist. I had the pleasure of working with him for nearly nine years and have witnessed firsthand his passion for customer success, commitment to innovation and leadership in growing a business."

 Saturday’s event in downtown Indianapolis will feature a total of 14 awards for companies and individuals, including Tech Company of the Year, New Startup of the Year, Innovation of the Year, Rising Star and Best New Tech Product. Earlier this week, the late Denver Hutt was announced as the first-ever Community Champion for her contributions to the entrepreneurship ecosystem in the state.

The 17th Annual Mira Awards event is presented by Angie’s List, Interactive Intelligence and Salesforce. It is the largest event of its kind in the state and will be held Saturday at the Westin Hotel in downtown Indianapolis.
