Land O’Frost Adds New Jersey Meat Maker

Munster-based Land O’Frost Inc. has announced the acquisition of what it calls "an established and respected leader" in natural and organic meats. The deal includes the full brand portfolio of Wellshire Farms Inc. of New Jersey. Wellshire products are currently carried in specialty retailers including Whole Foods Market, Trader Joe’s, Sprouts Farmers Market, Earth Fare and Natural Grocers by Vitamin Cottage.

Land O’Frost, which announced plans in 2013 to relocate its corporate headquarters to Munster from just a handful of miles down the road in Lansing, Illinois, says the acquisition makes it "a significant player in the fast growing natural/organic category." Both companies are family-owned and operated and Land O’Frost touts itself as one of the fastest-growing brands in the industry.

Wellshire brands include Wellshire, Wellshire Organic, Wellshire Kids, Garrett Valley, Colameco’s, Colameco’s Primo Naturale, Lou’s Famous and Woodstown Farms and Homestyle Meals.
