The countdown to the 101st Running of the Indianapolis 500 has begun. Officials with the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and Andretti Autosport have unveiled the ticket design for this year’s race, featuring Alexander Rossi, who won the historic 100th running last year.
The announcement was made Thursday at the new Cummins Distribution Headquarters in downtown Indianapolis, marking 101 days until the big race. Hulman & Co. Chief Executive Officer Mark Miles and IMS President Doug Boles were on hand for the event, alongside Rossi, who became the first American rookie to win the Indy 500 since Louis Meyer in 1928.
"This year’s ticket features a spectacular design, and it will be a great keepsake for fans for years to come," said Boles. "We’re grateful to our friends at Cummins, who share our passion for racing and the Indy 500, for hosting us this morning and creating such a special memory for Alexander, as well as the many community partners and Verizon IndyCar Series fans in attendance."
IMS says all Indy 500 tickets will have the design and there will also be limited quantities of souvenir versions of the ticket for fans to purchase as well.
In addition to the ticket unveiling, IMS has begun its campaign to deliver an Indy 500-branded bottle of milk each day until race day. The first bottle was given to Cummins Inc (NYSE: CMI) CEO Tom Linebarger.
