U.S. News & World Report has released its 2019 Best High Schools by Metro Area rankings. The publication ranks high schools in more than 930 metropolitan areas, including nearly 40 in Indiana.

The schools are ranked based on the same methodology used in the 2019 Best High Schools national rankings published earlier this year. The criteria used in the rankings include high school proficiency test performance, graduation rates and college readiness performance.

"We’ve heard from students, parents and school officials that they’re interested in seeing how their school compares with others in the community," Robert Morse, chief data strategist for U.S. News, said in a news release. "With these new rankings, residents in more than 900 metro areas nationwide can see which local schools are succeeding at educating and graduating their students."
