U.S. News & World Report has unveiled its 2018 list of the Best High Schools in Indiana. The schools are ranked based on criteria including high school proficiency test performance, graduation rates and college readiness performance.

The publication partnered with North Carolina-based RTI International to determine the rankings. The methodology for the list is based on key principles "that a great high school must serve all of its students well, not just those who are college bound, and that it must be able to produce measurable academic outcomes to show it is successfully educating its student body across a range of performance indicators."

Signature School in Evansville is the highest-ranked Hoosier school on the list. It is also the only Indiana school that is among the top 200 in the national rankings. Herron High School in Indianapolis, Zionsville Community High School, West Lafayette Jr./Sr. High School and Carmel High School round out the top five.
