Daviess Community Hospital announced this week that it’s closing down a health clinic in Jasper less than a year after the facility opened.
In a press release, Daviess said the clinic will close on May 30. DCH called the closure a “strategic realignment.”
“Our team has thoughtfully evaluated how to best meet the health care needs of the communities we serve—not just today, but for the future,” said DCH’s chief operating office Dave Graberin a written statement. “This transition reflects our commitment to growing stronger as a system, investing in what works, and ensuring every patient continues to receive the expert, compassionate care they expect from DCH.”
A spokesperson with DCH did not respond to a interview request from Inside INdiana Business on Thursday.
DCH said the closure won’t impact any services, but patients will have to travel to other locations. Per the release, primary care doctor Anna Lamb will move to DCH’s clinic in Odon. General surgery care will go back to Washington and urology will move to DCH’s urology clinic in Washington.
Daviess Community Hospital is based in Washington and is an affiliate of Ascension St. Vincent. The nonprofit system is active in the southeast portion of Indiana.
When the clinic in Jasper opened its doors in October, DCH’s executive director of physician and clinic operations Elizabeth Truelove told IIB that the system’s hospital in Washington saw a lot of traffic from Dubois County patients, and the nonprofit saw opportunity in expanding to Jasper.
Earlier this month, DCH announced Justin Harris as the organization’s new CEO. He will begin his role in July.
