Carmel Mayor Jim Brainard is optimistic the city can attract more corporate headquarters in 2017. During an interview with Inside INdiana Business, Brainard said the city has a lot of assets to advertise, including its school system, trail network and entertainment options.

Brainard says the city has a lot to offer as far as quality of life goes, especially to young professionals who often value walkability. "The center core of Carmel is quickly becoming a walkable pedestrian area," said Brainard, "where one can live if they chose to almost without a car."

Just this month, Indianapolis-based Encore Sotheby’s International Realty announced it would invest $5 million to relocate its headquarters to Carmel. At the time, Brainard said the location had the potential to become a landmark. In June, enVista, which is already based in the city, unveiled plans to relocate to a new Carmel office and add 25 jobs. The global supply chain consulting and IT services firm says the move was needed to accommodate recent growth.
