Cedar Creek Winery & Brew Co. in Martinsville claims to be home to the state’s only manufacturer of all three under one roof.
The owners say the expansion was a natural transition and another business unit is forthcoming.
“After being here at the winery four or five years, people made the comments of, ‘we prefer beer rather than wine.’ That thought crossed our minds of why not do beer. You know we have a winery. Let’s do a brewery,” Cedar Creek co-owner Bryce Elsner said to Around INdiana reporter Mary-Rachel Redman.
The company launched the brewery in 2015, followed by the distillery in 2016.
“Probably the most popular thing that we got going right now is our single batch bourbon expressions,” said Brandon Fry. “Each one of these came out of a different barrel. You can get a kind of a different flavor note, just from how it was aged or how we ended up working with the environmental conditions on that barrel.”
The company has also launched a fourth business line: a boutique cigar brand.
“They’re all hand-rolled in Honduras. The tobacco is grown in Nicaragua and Honduras,” said Elsner.
