The college says the $5.5 million project will create more space for students to dine, and include food stations that meet a variety of dietary needs, as well as an allergy-friendly prep space.
The project, according to the college, will feature an update to the current space’s aesthetic appeal, as well as kitchen equipment and ventilation.
Alpha Dining was dedicated in 1964 as a dorm and dining commons. The college says, as its community continues to grow, the dining needs continue to change and an increasing number of students have food allergies and sensitivities.
The college says the ceremonial groundbreaking will also be live-streamed on the Grace College Facebook page. Grace College President Dr. Bill Katip, Executive Vice President Dr. Drew Flamm and a Grace College student will speak.
The groundbreaking is expected to take place on the patio area outside of the front entrance to Alpha Dining Commons.
