David Go has been promoted to chair of the Department of Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering at the University of Notre Dame. He previously served as director of graduate studies for the department and also holds a concurrent appointment in the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering.

An ASME fellow and president of the Electrostatics Society of America, Go has received the Air Force Office of Scientific Research Young Investigator Award, the National Science Foundation CAREER Award, the Electrochemistry Society Toyota Young Investigator Fellowship, the Electrostatics Society of America Rising Star Award and the IEEE Nuclear and Plasma Sciences Society Early Achievement Award.

Go received his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Notre Dame in 2001 and was a design engineer at General Electric Aviation where he completed the Edison Engineering Development Program and concurrently received a master’s degree in aerospace engineering from the University of Cincinnati in 2004. After leaving GE Aviation, he completed his doctorate in mechanical engineering from Purdue University in 2008 and joined the Notre Dame faculty.
