The association says physician practices of all sizes will be able to purchase items at discounted rates.
The ISMA says shortages in PPE caused by the COVID-19 pandemic have made reopening difficult for many practices.
A survey conducted by the association showed physicians needed an estimated 700,000 patient masks, 600,000 respirator masks, and 500,000 gowns, pairs of gloves and face shields monthly to operate at full capacity.
The discounted rates for the items, including hand sanitizer, isolation gowns and surgical masks, are expected to be comparable to bulk pricing.
“When the coronavirus first hit, many Hoosier doctors donated their own equipment for medical teams that needed it on the frontlines,” said ISMA President Dr. Lisa Hatcher. “I’m proud that the ISMA has joined with these Hoosier companies to give back to our physicians so they can get their patients and the state back on track. We are truly all in this together.”
The ISMA is partnering with Hoosier companies including Cardinal Spirits in Bloomington, Jordan Manufacturing Co. Inc. in Newton and White counties, and Fusek’s True Value Hardware in Marion County.
The association says additional vendors will be added over time to offer equipment. Practices looking to place orders for PPE can find more information by clicking here.
