Subscribe NowGovernor Eric Holcomb has selected Indiana State Fire Marshal Stephen Cox to serve as the executive director of the Indiana Department of Homeland Security. Cox has served as state fire marshal since October of 2019.
Prior to serving in state government, he served as fire chief in South Bend. He worked for the department for 26 years, with 12 years in executive leadership.
Cox served in the U.S. Army as a combat medic overseas in the 101st Airborne. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Indiana University and has also earned numerous FEMA certifications related to the National Incident Management System.
