MISHAWAKA - A Mishawaka-based charter bus company may be hiring soon-to-be-jobless employees of Coach USA, which last week announced plans to shut down service in northwest Indiana at the end of the year.

According to our partners at The Times of Northwest Indiana, Royal Excursion is in talks with the operators of the Indiana Airport Supersaver shuttle bus service, which runs from communities in northwest Indiana to Chicago airports.

Royal Excursion says it intends to start service in those cities starting early next year and may hire some of the drivers and other support staff.

The publication says the bus lines are also discussing the possibility of Royal Excursion using the same stops that are currently offered.

Royal Excursion spokesman Marc Raybin told The Times the company hopes to provide shuttle service to Lake, Porter, LaPorte and St. Joseph counties, aiming to use the same stops travelers are already familiar with and accustomed to using if possible

Meanwhile, the publication is also reporting a second, unnamed bus line is considering starting service in the region.

Royal Excursion says it hopes to start its new bus service within 60 days.
