The City of Greenwood has promoted Jennifer Winget from recreation coordinator to assistant director of the Greenwood Parks & Recreation Department. In the newly created position, she will strategically coordinate activities for the department and collaborate with various partners, volunteers and sponsors.

Winget will also assist with the preparation, repair, maintenance and construction of Greenwood recreational facilities – both indoor and outdoor – which includes Freedom Springs Aquatic Center, the Greenwood Community Center, City Center Park splash pad, ball diamond fields, rental halls, trails and all 14 parks spanning 271 acres throughout Greenwood.  She will also take ownership of directing and coordinating activities of the recreation division, including youth and adult sports, special events and aquatics to provide programming that focuses on lifelong healthy habits.

Since joining the department in 2017, Winget has developed formal partnership acquisition procedures that have yielded significant increases in funding for events over the past couple years. In addition to funding, she also implemented toddler programming when the Greenwood Community Center first opened.

Winget is also the administrator of the Art on the Trail program for the entire 2019 – 2021 cycle, which involves acquiring artist submissions, leading a selection panel for the program, overseeing installation of the chosen pieces and successfully securing grant funding for the program.
