The Indianapolis Zoo has canceled one of the largest fundraising events in the city. The zoo says the decision to cancel Zoobilation 2020 is an effort to support the health and safety of the community.
The zoo says it is looking ahead to next year’s Zoobilation, scheduled for June 11, 2021.
“We are truly grateful for the support of our community and we want to thank everyone for caring about the Zoo!” The zoo said in a statement.
The zoo says proceeds from the event help fund the care of the its nearly 1,300 animals and 47,000 plants as well as its global conservation initiatives. This year’s event was estimated to bring in $2.5 million.
