Zimmer Biomet Partnership to Help Patients in Guatemala

(NYSE: ZBH) is partnering with a Houston-based nonprofit to benefit patients in Guatemala. The medical device manufacturer says the agreement with Faith In Practice aims to improve access to total knee replacement procedures for residents in underserved communities.
Zimmer Biomet will donate instrument sets and implants for Faith In Practice to use at Las Obras Hospital in Antigua and Hilario Galindo Hospital in San Felipe, Retalhuleu, Guatemala.
Brian Parsley, lead orthopaedic surgeon and member of the Faith In Practice Board of Directors, says the partnership will further the nonprofit’s capacity to treat patients in need, giving them the ability to remain active and provide for their families. He says more patients will be served due to the availability of implants and equipment.

"This opportunity enables us to continue to provide our innovative products and solutions in a socially impactful manner and further expands our ongoing efforts to help improve the lives of people in underserved communities who typically do not have access to healthcare advancements."
Rev. Linda McCarty, chief executive officer of Faith In Practice, says Zimmer Biomet has worked with the nonprofit in the past by supporting medical volunteers who wished to serve in developing nations. She says the new agreement will leverage and expand the company’s impact significantly.
