Zimmer Biomet has appointed Pamela Puryear senior vice president, chief human resources officer. She most recently served as SVP and chief talent officer at Pfizer. In that role, Puryear spearheaded leadership development, talent management, learning and development, employee engagement, organizational culture, diversity and inclusion and workforce analytics. She also served as CTO at Hospira, a leading provider of injectable drugs and infusion technologies, which was acquired by Pfizer in 2015. During the acquisition, Puryear was a member of the integration team, focused on supporting employees through the transition and merging two corporate cultures.

Puryear’s leadership has been recognized with numerous honors, including 2017 Most Powerful Executives in Corporate America and 2017 Top 50 Most Powerful Women in Business from Black Enterprise Magazine, the 2016 Trailblazer Award from the National Associate of African Americans in Human Resources, Illinois’ Most Powerful and Influential Women from the Illinois Diversity Council, as well as the Learning In Practice Award from Chief Learning Officer Magazine, among many more.

She started her career as a finance professional for several real estate investment advisors, and holds a BA in psychology and organizational behavior from Yale, an MBA from Harvard Business School and a PhD in organizational psychology.
