Construction Begins on Greenway Project in New Albany

A $2.5 million project that will hook New Albany into the Ohio River Greenway is underway. The Indiana Department of Transportation says the work, which covers about three-quarters of a mile, will include two boardwalks, a recreational road and a shared-use trail.
When complete, the Ohio River Greenway Project will run along the banks of the Ohio River between Jeffersonville, Clarksville and New Albany. The larger goals of the effort include creating a recreational environment to access the river and additional riverfront development-related amenities from each community.
Most of the work in New Albany is being paid with Federal Highway Administration funding.
The city has said the project will take around a year-and-a-half.
