During Tuesday’s event, Integrating Women Leaders unveiled its new logo and "Better Together" vision statement. Keynotes for today’s conference include Geena Davis Institute on Gender in Media Chief Executive Officer Madeline Di Nonno, Salesforce Director of Equality Programs James Loduca and Open Gym Indy owner Jennifer Magley.
The theme of this year’s event is "Now is the time," which the organization says aims to inspire attendees to "create experiences, connections and support to take the first step." The masters of ceremonies at the conference were Taft Stettinius & Hollister LLP Partner Tracy N. Betz and Stanley Security Vice President of Human Resources Anthony Buffum.
Di Nonno spoke with Inside INdiana Business Reporter Mary-Rachel Redman and said her focus is on how media can influence what happens in society and how children see themselves and what they can be. She says there has been progress in television, with streaming services in particular showing a "wide array" of diverse characters. She says there is also some progress in getting more female leads into movies, but "it’s not fast enough."
Breakout sessions at today’s event included speakers and panels on executive presence, owning "your own unconscious bias" and finding success in failure.
Integrating Women Leaders Chief Executive Officer Kim Graham Lee says the organization is going to make moves to offer more year-round programming and workshops. The next event in October will focus in part on the importance of men as allies in the movement to cultivate more women leaders.
