WISH-TV has hired Katiera Winfrey as News 8’s multicultural reporter, the state’s first-ever television journalist dedicated exclusively to covering stories affecting Indiana’s diverse population.

She returns to WISH-TV, after beginning her career there in 2010. Winfrey later worked at stations in Houston, Odessa, and Tyler, Texas; Tulsa, Oklahoma; and Allentown, Pennsylvania.

Winfrey grew up in Indianapolis and graduated from North Central High School. Katiera received her Bachelor of Arts in Communications Broadcast Journalism at Texas Southern University. She is a member of the National Association of Black Journalists.

Winfrey will focus on, but not be limited to, news and issues of concern to women, Millennials, Hispanics and Latinos, African Americans, Asian Americans, Middle Eastern Americans, Native Americans and the LGBTQ community.
