A plan that could help save an iconic Indiana gymnasium is moving forward. The Anderson Community School Board has passed a resolution to transfer ownership of the Wigwam to the city's redevelopment commission. Our partners at The Herald Bulletin report that move gives Wigwam Sports Entertainment LLC until June 25 to prove to city officials that it can restore the historic venue. The group says it is within 14 percent of its financial goal.

If the money is not in place by the end of the month, demolition of the more than 70 year-old venue could be set in motion.

Tuesday night, the board also announced the appointment of Terry Thompson as superintendent.

He currently serves as Anderson High School principal and was previously in leadership roles with Tipton High School, Southport High School and Clark Pleasant Schools.
