Whiting to Break Ground on Mascot Hall of Fame

Mayor Joe Stahura and a host of mascots from throughout the country will be on hand for the ceremony marking the beginning of construction on the $8 million facility, which is slated to open in late 2017.
The city says the Mascot Hall of Fame will educate visitors about the roles, craft and science of mascots. The 25,000 square-foot building is described by the city as an "interactive family fun zone" with exhibits, activities and events to celebrate mascots.
The ground breaking ceremony is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. at Oil City Stadium. Stahura will be joined by other city officials, MHOF creator David Raymond as well as "special guest speakers." There ceremony will be live streamed on the Mascot Hall of Fame’s Facebook page.
