Whiteland Rezones Farmland for Industrial Use

The Whiteland Town Council has agreed to rezone approximately 130 acres of farmland. Our partners from the Daily Journal report Atlanta-based Core5 Industrial Partners requested the farmland be rezoned for future industrial development.
The town council unanimously approved the rezoning. The publication says the property will be used to build speculative warehouses that can be rented out.
“We met with them (Core5), and that gave us the opportunity to sit down with them and show them what our intent was and what our thoughts were about transportation, infrastructure and so-on,” said Norm Gabehart, former Whiteland town manager. “That gives us a better position to talk about those conversations because they haven’t gotten the zoning yet.”
According to the Daily Journal, rezoning the farmland is part of Whiteland’s comprehensive plan. There are no plans in place regarding the number or size of the warehouses or what type of businesses will occupy the spaces.
