WGU Indiana has launched the ITT Transfer Scholarship program, which offers $150,000 in scholarships.
More than 1,000 students in Indiana were affected when ITT Education Services announced earlier this month that it was permanently closing. WGU Chancellor Allison Barber says she hopes those students seek to finish their education.
"While WGU won’t be a fit for every ITT student, it may be an alternative that many should consider as they sort out their options," said Barber. "Our mission is to enable every student to achieve their academic goals, no matter their circumstances. We have had more than 200 students with experience from ITT Tech and we hope these scholarship funds will encourage displaced students to consider the affordability and convenience that WGU Indiana can offer them."
The ITT Transfer Scholarship program is available for any of WGU’s bachelor’s and master’s degree programs in information technology, nursing and healthcare, business and teacher education. The university says scholarships will be awarded based on each student’s academic record, previous college experience, readiness of online study and current competency, among other considerations.
WGU says it will also waive its application and first-term resource fees for ITT students. You can find more information on the ITT Transfer Scholarship program by clicking here.
Other Hoosier institutions have offered assistance to displaced ITT Tech students. Indiana Wesleyan University announced earlier this month it may accept up to 90 transfer credits for students who earned a C or higher and certain students may be eligible for scholarships. Trine University has offered to accept up to 89 transfer credits with no expiration date. Grace College has also offered to accept up to 60 transfer credits.
