Indianapolis, Ind. — WGU Indiana welcomes five high-profile community leaders to the WGU Indiana Advisory Board. David A. Bathe, chancellor, Ivy Tech-Lafayette; Gerry Dick, president, Grow INdiana Media Ventures LLC; Nancy Huber, president and CEO, Fifth Third Bank (Central Indiana); Carolyn Konfirst, patient safety and quality advisor, Indiana Hospital Association; and Michael Langellier, CEO, TechPoint, join Chancellor Allison Barber and her current board members.
“I am pleased to bring on this dynamic group of leaders. They offer important strategic focus in the areas of emerging business trends and healthcare professions, and provide awareness of today’s economic landscape,” said WGU Indiana Chancellor Allison Barber. “I look forward to working with them to remove barriers and increase college degree attainment for working Hoosier adults.”
David A. Bathe, chancellor, Ivy Tech-Lafayette
Dr. Bathe became chancellor of Ivy Tech Community College-Lafayette in 2005. He currently serves on the boards of Greater Lafayette Commerce and the Art Museum of Greater Lafayette Foundation, and is a past president of the Tippecanoe County United Way. Bathe also served as the 2013 Heart Ball chair for the American Heart Association.
Gerry Dick, president, Grow INdiana Media Ventures LLC
In 2000, broadcast news veteran Gerry Dick and technology entrepreneur Scott A. Jones formed Grow INdiana Media Ventures, LLC to deliver Indiana business news and information through multiple sources. He is a past member of the board of directors of the Indiana Chamber of Commerce and serves on the Board of Advisors at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis and the Dean’s Executive Council at the Scott College of Business at Indiana State University.
Nancy Huber, president and CEO, Fifth Third Bank (Central Indiana)
Nancy Huber serves as president and CEO of Fifth Third Bank (Central Indiana), the fifth largest affiliate contributor to Fifth Third Bancorp. The company has $123 billion in assets and operates 18 affiliates. In addition to her new role for WGU Indiana, Huber serves on the board of directors for WFYI, Conner Prairie and the Greater Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce and is a member of the American Red Cross Tiffany Circle.
Carolyn Konfirst, patient safety and quality advisor, Indiana Hospital Association
Dr. Carolyn Konfirst is a patient safety and quality advisor for the Indiana Hospital Association (IHA). Her professional memberships and board service has included the advisory board of the Department of Nursing for Marian University and the executive board for Nursing 2000. She was also board president for The Independence Academy of Indiana, a private school for students with high functioning autism/Asperger’s syndrome.
Michael Langellier, CEO, TechPoint
Michael Langellier is the CEO of TechPoint. A recipient of a Governor Bob Orr Indiana Entrepreneurial Fellowship, Langellier has worked at Baker Hill and Experian Decision Analytics. He then cofounded MyJibe, a personal finance and banking software company, and was vice president of strategic partnerships with MoneyDesktop.
The five new members join current board members Vince Bertram, CEO, Project Lead The Way (PTLW); Linda Buskirk, owner and president, Accountable Solutions; Kathy Davis, former lieutenant governor and founder of Davis Design Group; David Harris, president and CEO, The Mind Trust; Jamie Merisotis, president, Lumina Foundation for Education; Senator Earline Rogers, state of Indiana; and Ron Stiver, senior vice president, Engagement & External Affairs, IU Health.
