Westfield Special Census Shows Big Jump

One of the state’s fastest growing cities has updated numbers to back the claim. The U.S. Census Bureau says a January 8 special census shows the population of the Hamilton County city has jumped since the 2010 calculations.
Westfield’s population now stands at 36,854, up from 30,068 six years ago, as 22 percent increase.
Mayor Andy Cook says "the new census numbers confirm trends we’ve been witnessing for some time. Our community is growing leaps and bounds year after year."
The housing count is also up considerably. In January, 14,034 houses were recorded and 25 percent increase from the 11,209 counted in 2010. City Council launched the special census process last year to more accurately demonstrate where the city stands. The new data will also help the city’s revenue pool.
An Indiana University Kelley School of Business Indiana Business Research Center study released in May placed Westfield among the top five fastest-growing in the state.
