Westfield, Ind. – The city of Westfield announced today that Grand Park will have a new director beginning in February.
Kenneth Alexander will oversee the operations of the sports complex in a few weeks, just as the second year of operations for the park begins.
“The success of Grand Park during its first year was phenomenal,” Mayor Andy Cook said. “I'm excited to see we have Ken in place to continue and expand on the momentum of the park as we begin another year of activity at the park.”
As Director of Grand Park, Alexander will work closely with the two anchor tenants, Bullpen Tournaments and Indiana Sports Properties, and community youth organizations, Indiana Fire Juniors and Westfield Youth Sports Inc. (WYSI). He will also be responsible for managing the park’s contracts and vendor relationships.
“We're excited to work with Ken at Grand Park. His hands-on leadership style and familiarity with the city will be an asset in making this year of operations even better than the first,” said Mike Mundy, executive director of LIDS Indiana Bulls.
“Ken’s understanding of the vision and purpose of the Grand Park Sports Campus will help provide continued confidence in the economic impact of this fantastic facility,” said Don Rawson, Executive Director of Indiana Sports Properties. “I look forward to working with Ken to ensure we remain focused on providing Grand Park users with an outstanding customer experience.”
A lifetime sports enthusiast, Alexander managed construction projects for 20 years, including high profile jobs at Discovery Channel’s World Headquarters (Silver Spring, MD) and Eskenazi Hospital (Indianapolis, IN).
Most recently, Alexander served as the director of public works for the city of Westfield.
“When I made the decision to leave the private sector for the Government sector, I sought after the City of Westfield due to the possibility of being involved in one of the most unique and groundbreaking projects – Grand Park,” Alexander said. “This director opportunity is a dream come true and one that will involve many of my passions in life. My whole family is excited about this new role for me and my career.”
Originally from San Diego, Alexander is the son of a Navy officer and grew up in several states throughout the country. He holds a degree in construction and engineering management from Purdue University, and lives in Carmel with his wife and three children.
