A California-based health services management company confirms it plans to open an office in Carmel and hire approximately 300 employees. A spokeswoman with American Specialty Health Inc. says the company could hold a grand opening ceremony for the new center in March. Lisa Freeman says the Hamilton County facility will serve functions including operations, customer service and redundancy.

She tells Inside INdiana Business the company “has opened the opportunity” for employees within the company to move to the center.

A City of Carmel spokeswoman says Mayor Jim Brainard has been in contact with the company for about six months on plans to “move some employees” to the city.

Both the city and the company confirm that Chief Executive Officer George DeVries has Indiana ties, having graduated from Culver Miltary Academy.
