WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – WBAA is pleased to announce that Mike Savage will join the station as General Manager on November 1, 2013. Mr. Savage is a 20-year public radio veteran who served most recently as Director and General Manager of WKCC-FM in Kankakee, Illinois. At WKCC, Mr. Savage established NPR affiliation, created membership and local news departments and launched a national version of its locally produced blues show on the Public Radio Satellite System. Under his leadership, WKCC increased locally-produced programming and station revenue from membership and underwriting.

It is an exciting time to be in public radio and with the strong support of Purdue University and the community, I am ready to jump in and help contribute to the station's progress in this important time in its history,” said Mr. Savage.
Mr. Savage will help oversee the station's nine person staff as well as several local on-air contributors and will report to Julie Griffith, Vice President for Public Affairs at Purdue University.

Mr. Savage was chosen following a national search to replace General Manager Tim Singleton, who retired in January. Finalists were interviewed by an independent search committee comprised of representatives from the university, individual supporters as well as community leaders in the arts and other nonprofits. Standard university hiring procedures were strictly followed.
