Water Enhancement Projects Receive Boost From DNR

The Indiana Department of Natural Resources has awarded nearly $1.2 million for 25 lake and river enhancement projects throughout the state. The funds will cover work in 20 counties.
The work will include stream bank erosion, aquatic habitat and sediment and nutrient runoff projects. Local sponsors pay part of the cost, while the DNR covers its share through state boat registration fees.
DNR Fish & Wildlife Director Mark Reiter says "these projects are among many examples of how boat owners support conservation. With funding from LARE, local partners are making our waterways safer, enhancing habitat, reducing erosion and improving opportunities for boating and fishing."
