Wabash College to Add Men’s Volleyball
Wabash College plans to add a men’s volleyball team in the 2020-21 season. It will be the 13th intercollegiate sport in the school’s varsity athletics program.
The National Collegiate Athletic Association has sponsored a Division III national championship in men’s volleyball since 2012, with 104 teams competing in 2019. President Gregory Hess made the announcement on Wednesday, saying, “Men’s volleyball is growing at the high school and college level all across the country, and we are excited to be one of the first Indiana colleges to add it to our championship-caliber athletics program.”
Wabash competes in the North Coast Athletic Conference in several sports, but the conference does not support volleyball or wrestling, which will make Wabash seek affiliation in a different conference, just as it has for wrestling.
The college is immediately beginning its search for a head volleyball coach, with more information here.
