VU Partnership to Help Pilots Find Jobs

Vincennes University has entered into a partnership to help provide future employment opportunities for pilots. The two-year Pilot Pathway partnership with Trans States Airlines will guarantee an interview for conditional employment for any VU flight training student.

The university says each qualified candidate who completes the interview, passes a simulator evaluation, is offered employment and reports for ground school will receive a total of $10,000 in tuition reimbursement from Trans States. Both VU and Trans States say they will work closely to ensure each candidate is of the highest quality.

"Trans States relies on a robust pipeline of high-quality and safety-focused pilots, and the Vincennes University training program provides just that," said Keith Stamper, director of flight operations at Trans States Airlines. "We look forward to welcoming Vincennes University pilots to the Trans States flight deck."

VU cites the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, which says the median annual wage for airline and commercial pilots is more than $102,000 in May 2015 and employment is projected to grow through 2024. The university holds its aviation flight and aviation maintenance degree programs at the VU Aviation Technology Center in Indianapolis, which celebrated a $6 million renovation project last year.
