(NYSE: VCRA) has announced plans to expand operations in Fort Wayne. The company says it will invest more than $1 million to extend its space by 50 percent and upgrade the office to mirror the look of its San Jose headquarters.
A spokesperson for the company says Vocera will invest $1.2 million in the project, with an additional $300,000 coming from the lease agreement with the property manager. Vocera has tapped Indiana-based The Hagerman Group as construction manager for the project and Fort Wayne-based MKM architecture + design as the architect.
"We wanted to create a space that inspires more collaboration among our employees, while providing different kinds of areas where they can be productive, have some fun, or take a moment to focus on their well-being," said Jim Blastos, vice president of operations at Vocera. "The Hagerman Group and MKM have been flexible throughout the renovation project, helping us meet our operational objectives and improve the work experience for our employees."
Vocera says the upgrades include new finishes and IT systems, redesigned work spaces for more than 80 employees, and the addition of more conference rooms, windows and a training center. The project also features new amenities such as a wellness room, game room, phone rooms, and a larger break area.
The spokesperson says while no new jobs will be directly created as a result of the project, it will help with future recruiting, retention and employee well-being.
