Hotel investments are continuing to help boost economic development prospects in the state's largest city. The results of two major renovations in downtown Indianapolis will be unveiled over the next few days. Visit Indy says such projects are essential to keeping the city competitive for major conventions like this month's National Rifle Association annual meetings. They could also help the city's 2018 Super Bowl bid, which will be presented to National Football League owners next month. Crowne Plaza will mark its improvement efforts Thursday. Westin Indianapolis is set to celebrate the completion of its renovation next week. The project includes more than 550 modernized guest rooms as well as improved high-speed Internet access and work space.

Gahl says Indianapolis hotels have spent millions on upgrades since 2011. That includes the historic Canterbury Hotel, which is undergoing a $9.5 million renovation. It will be known as Le M?ridien when the project is complete in November. The Omni Severin Hotel in downtown Indianapolis is also upgrading in connection with its 100th year in business.
