Vincennes University President Chuck Johnson this week announced notable leadership changes for the upcoming school year.
Tim Eaton, vice president of financial services and chief financial officer, and Laura Treanor, provost, senior vice president of instructional services and dean of faculty, will leave the university, effective July 1.
Upon their departure, the university is preparing for new leadership with two current colleagues stepping in.
Tim Eaton to retire after 36 years
After serving VU for 36 years, Eaton will retire at the end of June.
Following his retirement, Conya Wampler, who currently serves as assistant vice president of financial services and controller, will succeed Eaton.
Beginning his time at VU in 1989 as a staff accountant, Eaton helped secure critical state funding—including biennial capital and operating budget requests—while ensuring the university’s long-term financial health.
“For nearly four decades, Tim Eaton has provided steady, insightful leadership at the helm of VU’s budgets and financial management, skillfully guiding the University through periods of economic uncertainty, demographic shifts, and changing public funding landscapes,” Johnson said in a written statement.
Taking Wampler’s place as assistant vice president of financial services is Travis Linneweber, who currently serves VU as budget director.
Laura Treanor leaving for new university
Treanor, who joined VU in 2018, was recently named the next president of Virginia Western Community College in Roanoke, Virginia.
During her seven years with the university, Treanor launched Leadership Lunch and Learn sessions, created the Trailblazer Teaching Academy and led the American Council on Education Women’s Network Indiana, VU said.
“Her extraordinary impact over the past seven years has significantly advanced Vincennes University and will be felt for decades to come,” said Johnson.
Jaci Lederman will serve as interim Provost, vice president for instructional services and dean of faculty in Treanor’s absence.
Lederman, who currently serves as VU’s executive director of information technology and chief information officer, will pause her current day-to-day responsibilities as she takes Treanor’s spot.
Looking ahead
Reflecting on these leadership changes, Johnson took the opportunity to express his appreciation for departing colleagues and excitement for those stepping into new roles.
“We will soon celebrate and bid farewell to two exceptional leaders whose dedicated service and countless contributions have significantly strengthened Vincennes University,” Johnson said. “Fortunately, we are also blessed to have talented colleagues ready to step into new roles, ensuring continued stability and success through these transitions and into the future.”
