Vincennes Partnering With Chinese Schools

Vincennes University has signed agreements with two educational institutions in China. The university says the deals with the Institute of Xuyi Vocational Education and Xuyi High School represent a commitment to “academic exchange and cooperation in teaching, research, and training.”

The agreements were signed at a ceremony this week on the Vincennes campus. The university says the institutions will develop a partnership allowing Chinese students to enroll at VU and providing faculty the chance to exchange information on a variety of topics, such as approaches to teaching.

"This will deepen our relationship and help us move together as we develop educational, cultural, and economic partnerships," said VU President Chuck Johnson. "This is a region of China that does not have quite as much exposure to U.S. universities and colleges so this gives us a chance to get in front of these students and get them engaged to make VU a top choice for them."

During the ceremony, Vincennes Mayor Joe Yochum signed a Sister City agreement with Xuyi County, Jiangsu Province in China. Yochum says he hopes the relationship will not only attract students to VU but also "open economic opportunities in business exchange and tourism."
