The Vigo County Historical Society is ready to move to a building it’s been renovating since 2016 on Wabash Avenue in Terre Haute. Our partners at WTHI-TV report the Terre Haute Department of Redevelopment has awarded a $45,000 grant to the society to help with the move.

Historical Society representatives say the building is more than 100 hundred years old.

"The original facade of this building was built in 1895. In the 1960s it was updated. Then what we did is tear that update off and tried to restore the building to the storefront closer to what it was in the 1800s," Susan Tingley told WTHI-TV.

The museum in the new building is slated to open between late July and early August.
