The key players behind the Elkhart River District Revitalization Plan have released a video simulating what the region would look like if the projects are fully-implemented. The piece shows before-and-after renderings of the many projects that could transform the city in the coming years, including the planned $65 million Health, Fitness, Aquatics and Community Center.
Jones Petrie Rafinski Corp., which has offices in Elkhart and South Bend, is the consulting firm leading the planning effort. It worked with PlanningNext, Development Concepts Inc. in Indianapolis, the City of Elkhart and the Elkhart Community Foundation to develop the plan. Leaders say the plan "provides the framework for creating a unique and cohesive place in the eastern part of downtown. Significant public and private investment is anticipated in this area and this plan seeks to leverage it to the greatest extent possible."
