Veteran Indianapolis broadcast journalist Jill Ditmire has died. Ditmire most recently worked for our partners at WFYI, where she held numerous roles, including anchor for “All Things Considered,” and host of shows such as “Curious Mix” and “Indiana Outdoors.” She was 56.
During her 25-year career, Ditmire serves as a reporter for numerous television stations in Indianapolis. She had been with WFYI since 2013.
“Jill was a respected journalist and a tireless advocate for the Indianapolis arts community,” said WFYI Chief Executive Officer and President Greg Petrowich. “More than that, she was a friend and colleague and will be missed by all who knew her.”
In addition to her work in media, Ditmire was a business owner, running the Mass Ave Wine Shoppe and Café, and also taught Newswriting 101 at her alma mater, Butler University.
WFYI says plans for services will be announced at a later date. Tributes for Ditmire came pouring in on social media following the news of her death:
