Verge, which just celebrated the public launch of a Muncie community, now has a presence in 10 cities stretching from St. Louis to Raleigh. Founder Matt Hunckler says the organization is built to bring together entrepreneurs, investors and founders anywhere a spirit for starting up a business exists.
Hunckler tells Inside INdiana Business, Muncie has a number of characteristics that make it a good city for startups. He says a key asset is Ball State University and more specifically, the digital media and entrepreneurship programs. He adds initiatives involving the city’s downtown have also gone a long way toward attracting talent and building an environment for entrepreneurship.
In addition to Muncie and Indianapolis, Verge also has communities in Terre Haute, Bloomington and West Lafayette and outside the state in Chicago, Cincinnati, Louisville, Raleigh and St. Louis.
Verge Muncie was first conceived last year and one of the early catalysts was the Sustainable Muncie Corp., which is also driving what is now called Madjax, the Muncie Maker Force, which is an entrepreneurship space located in the former Cintas building.
