Venture Capitalist Tour to Stop in South Bend

South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg will Friday host Ohio Congressman Tim Ryan (R-13) and a delegation of venture capitalists as part of the Comeback Cities Venture Capitalist Tour. The city says the group will meet with representatives of local businesses, elected officials and incubators from South Bend to learn about startup activity and investment opportunities.
The tour has also made stops in Youngstown and Akron, Ohio as well as Detroit and Flint, Michigan. The city says the venture capitalists have backed companies such as SpaceX, Uber, Spotify and Twitter.
The goal of the Comeback Cities Venture Capitalist tour, according to the city, is to "get more investment flowing to companies in heartland cities." After the meeting, Mayor Buttigieg and Rep. Ryan will hold a press conference at the Renaissance District in South Bend, scheduled for 10:15 a.m.
