Judy Dutton, who graduated in 1971, has followed up a more than 20-year marketing career with an active life in community and church organizations. John Dutton graduated in 1970 and spent 36 years with Illinois-based Caterpillar Inc. (NYSE: CAT). He calls the gift an investment in Valpo’s future, and says he hopes "that fellow alumni will also consider the importance of this funding to the university when they give."
Valparaiso University’s endowment provides a self-sustaining revenue stream. The school says unrestricted endowment funds gives it flexibility to use the money to address pressing needs and unforseen challenges.
The Duttons are also members of the Dretzmann Society, which recognizes donors who have established planned gifts.
