Sunocs LLC, a manufacturer of grease, silicone and other products in Valparaiso, is under new ownership. Cincinnati-based specialty chemical company Kodiak LLC has acquired Sunocs, though financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Kodiak said the acquisition will allow it to reach into new markets, and Sunocs’ manufacturing assets will amplify its manufacturing platform and product portfolio.
The company added that the deal comes in response to a “notorious” shortage in grease supply since 2021.
“This acquisition aligns with our strategic growth objectives, expanding our presence in key industries and enhancing our ability to deliver innovative, groundbreaking solutions for our customers, Kodiak CEO Kevin Dickey said in a news release. “The entrepreneurial culture within the Sunocs team perfectly aligns with Kodiak and the values that have enabled us to succeed.”
It was not clear how many employees Sunocs has or if any jobs would be affected by the deal. Kodiak did not respond to multiple requests for more information from Inside INdiana Business.
With the addition of Sunocs’ facility in Valparaiso, Kodiak said it can now produce more than 100 million pounds of grease and 30 million pounds of silicone and die casting lubricants.
The acquisition is Kodiak’s fifth since 2023.
