The school is also reporting a slight increase in overall enrollment compared to last school year.
USI says the 20 percent increase in graduate enrollment is due in large part to the Romain College of Business’ new online MBA program. President Linda Bennett says, while she knew there would be strong demand for the program, "we didn’t foresee how popular it would be."
The school is reporting 1,695 first-time college students, on par with increases it saw in the fall of last year. USI says total enrollment, including undergraduate, College Achievement Program and graduate students is 10,693 for the 2016 fall semester.
The university says the majority of its students come from within the state, with 89 of Indiana’s 92 counties represented. Overall, students come from 36 other states and 74 countries, with minority and international students making up just over 13 percent of the student population.
