Subscribe NowThe University of Southern Indiana says for the first time in five years, it has seen enrollment growth in its freshman class. USI says the number of first-time students reached 1,327, climbing 3.2% over the previous year. The school says graduate enrollment also increased. It is up 4.5% over fall 2020. However, overall enrollment has dropped 6.7%, totaling 7,938 students.
The university says of the 1,845 graduate students at USI, more than 1,680 are choosing programs that are offered exclusively online, such as an accelerated MBA.
“We continue to learn about how the COVID-19 pandemic is affecting students and higher education as a whole,” said Dr. Mohammed Khayum, Provost. “As we gradually return to more normal operations, we are optimistic that the areas of growth mentioned will provide us with opportunities for expansion and continued growth going forward.”
In-state students comprise nearly 79% of the student body.
