United Way, Labor Council Form Partnership

The United Way of Central Indiana and the Central Indiana Labor Council have signed a partnership agreement. They say it "aims to drive positive, measurable and substantial impact in the central Indiana region."
Both organizations say the partnership expands union participation in United Way fundraising, will implement jointly-developed programs, tailors United Way community service projects for union volunteers, and gives union members and their families access to United Way’s services in times of need. The partnership will be managed by a newly-designated United Way Labor Community Services Liason.
"CLC workers are our teachers, electricians, laborers, firefighters, trash collectors and homecare aids. They are our neighbors," said Shawn Christ, president of CLC. "Our members love our community and want to serve as trusted partners. Together with United Way of Central Indiana, we can help meet the needs of our community and make our city a better place."
The partnership is the first at the local level after the formation of a national partnership model between United Way Worldwide and the AFL-CIO.
