United Way Announces Community Impact VP

United Way of Central Indiana has promoted Sara VanSlambrook to vice president of community impact. She most recently served as senior director of strategic initiatives, where she led initiatives around education, financial stability and two-generation approaches to combat poverty.
Before that, VanSlambrook directed Great Families 2020, United Way’s four-year initiative to improve family stability for vulnerable children and their parents living in five neighborhoods in Indianapolis.
Prior to UWCI, VanSlambrook worked as a senior program officer for the Local Initiatives Support Coalition, Indianapolis (LISC) where she pioneered the concept of quality-of-life planning in Indianapolis neighborhoods and spearheaded the Great Places 2020 initiative.
She has 20 years of experience in the nonprofit sector with expertise in program development, community engagement, fundraising, evaluation and financial management.
