Unemployment Ticks Higher in June

The newest data from the Indiana Department of Workforce Development shows Indiana’s unemployment rate has ticked higher for the second straight month. Indiana’s unemployment rate stood at 4.1% in June, up one-tenth of a percent from May. It was the same increase in April.
The national rate is 5.9%. Year over year, Indiana’s unemployment rate has dropped six percentage points from June 2020.
The DWD says private sector employment increased by 8,900 over the previous month with gains in Leisure and Hospitality and Manufacturing. However, the DWD says some of the gains were offset by losses in the Professional and Business Services and the Construction sectors.
